Ukraine: Zelensky accuses North Korea of sending soldiers to the Russian army

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this Sunday that North Korea is supplying soldiers to the Russian army for its invasion of Ukraine.

“We are seeing a growing alliance between Russia and regimes like North Korea. It is no longer just about arms transfers. It’s about sending people from North Korea to the occupier’s armed forces,” he declared in his daily speech.

“Under these conditions, our relationships with our partners must be developed. The front needs more support”, he added.

For him, Kiev needs long-range weapons to “increase pressure on the aggressor” and “avoid a bigger war”.

For weeks, Ukraine has been asking its Western allies to provide it with long-range missiles to strike deep into Russia.

On Thursday, the Kremlin denied reports from Kiev and Seoul that North Korean soldiers were helping the Russian army in Ukraine, which, according to the West, is receiving ammunition and missiles from Pyongyang.

Nuclear-armed North Korea has strengthened its military ties with Moscow in recent months and Russian President Vladimir Putin made a rare visit to Pyongyang in June to sign a mutual defense agreement with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un .

Last weekend, a Ukrainian media outlet claimed that six North Korean officers had died in a Ukrainian missile attack a few days earlier near Donetsk, in Moscow-occupied eastern Ukraine.
