What will be the cover of MARCA tomorrow?

Decide, each afternoon, The next day’s cover is one of the most pleasant and interesting moments of my daily day. All of us in the Editorial Team are aware of the enormous impact and repercussion, at an international level, that our front page has. Gerardo Riquelme told me one day that he heard an athlete say that when an athlete wants to be on the cover, what he wants is to be on the cover.

the BRAND

. For this reason, every day we face a journalism exercise in which, in varying doses, information, creativity, imagination, ingenuity, irony, forcefulness, emotions… And responsibility are mixed. An amalgamation of concepts summarized, for simplicity, in an image and a headline. As simple but as powerful as that. Every day a lot of expectation is generated around our ‘tapa’. And many other times interest skyrockets. That happened yesterday. The question I receive more or less regularly from

“What will be the cover of MARCA tomorrow?” was ‘trending topic’ in my ears yesterday

. I was curious to see if we would repeat the famous (and very understandable) of the

‘We are going to retire Zidane’

. I already wrote in this corner that we were not going to do it. That 2006 cover was great. Shocking.

.

Yesterday’s brainstorming was especially jubilant. After all, this is leisure and entertainment, enthusiasm and good vibes. It’s not advertising, but with so much talent in meeting –

Juan Ignacio García-Ochoa, Emilio Contreras, Roberto Palomar, Alberto R. Barbero, José María Rodríguez, Felipe del Campo, Miguel Sanz, Rafa Casal…

– and such a magnificent report of

José Félix Díaz, Miguel Ángel Lara, José Luis Allegue and Chema Rey

All that could come out was a great headline and a brilliant cover. One more. We hope and trust that Spain wins this afternoon. The consequences derived from this would not be in our hands.
