Viñales, a record holder and Marc Márquez, already in pain for the play-offs

Ni Marc Márquez, nor Jorge Martín and Pecco Bagnaia. Was Maverick Viñales the one who dominated Practice of MotoGP a Sachsenring. The Aprilia rider broke the record to dominate a very eventful session. The eight-time champion was left out of Q2, for now, after his accident. The best thing is that it is fine.

Aleix Espargaró no longer participated in the session. After testing himself in the first free practice, he was dropped due to the pain in his right hand. He will not have a substitute, since tester Savadori is also injured.

The weather was rough, with 19 degrees in the air and 26 on the asphalt. It was cloudy and windy.

As happened in the first free practice, Marc Márquez left and had to return to his box without marking time. He again had a mechanical problem on his motorcycle.

Marco Bezzecchi crashed in the dangerous turn 11, the change of direction before the big descent. He dragged and rolled. There they are usually due to cooling of the tire. He woke up in pain.

Those first minutes were to test harder compounds, as it coincided with Sprint time. Thus, Marc returned with means. Acosta went first going with the tough forward, at Martinator’s wheel.

Soon Marc was the one who had a serious incident in turn 11. He went in front of her, tried to grab her and threw her around the ears. He hit his hip hard on the asphalt and slid onto the gravel. He woke up dizzy and sore and was able to be taken to his workshop. It was his first lap thrown by him and he didn’t even have a record set. It was his second fall of the day.

Fabio Di Giannantonio was the next to have a hard fall in turn 1. His bike hit the air barrier and broke it, so training had to be stopped. The Roman from VR46 had pain in his right collarbone and arm. Dr. Charte took three x-rays and ruled out injuries. “He has a significant contusion, but we don’t see any type of fracture, he makes all the movements,” he said on DAZN.

The session resumed… and the accidents. In turn 1, Nakagami fell with the Honda. Later, Joan Mir imitated him. The Mallorcan was angry with his motorcycle.

Marc Márquez started fast and on soft tires. He was looking for a good time to get out of trouble. He gave a new demonstration of self-confidence, because in five laps he placed himself first. From gravel to the top of the board. Amazing.

Pedro Acosta also crashed in Turn 1. It was also the second of the day for him. His partner Augusto Fernández lost her balance in the third corner, at low speed.

Raúl Fernández was riding on soft tires with 25 minutes remaining before his fastest lap attempt. The battle began.

Marc Márquez changed and left the session. He was going to the medical center to have a checkup. They were going to look at his chest, especially. All he had to do was pray that they wouldn’t kick him out of the ‘top 10’.

The first to beat that time was… Álex Márquez. Martinator had put the hard forward, which only changes on the left side, and it was not going well. The same thing happened to Acosta with that combination.

Martín took little time to show his speed. He grew on his first attempt and then went wide in Turn 8. He narrowly missed the gravel… like this morning. Then, he ran into Quartararo, who was slow, and had to abort.

The ‘pressured’ one was now Bagnaia, but he didn’t even flinch and rose to be among the best. But his 2022 record was shattered by Maverick Viñales, with a great 1:19.622.

Enea Bastianini had a crash at turn 11. She lost her front wheel. The one from Rimini got up without problems. The yellow flags came out, but Acosta and Miller were able to overcome them to advance.

Then, Remy Gardner, Rins’ replacement on the Yamaha, fell at the finish line.

Raúl Fernández also moved up and left Marc Márquez in Q1, the repechage to fight for pole. The joy did not last long for the Madrid native, as Binder improved. Quartararo lost his last option by going long.

Zarco had an accident in the last corner, so the yellow flags came back and no one could improve. The ‘top 10’ and those who go directly to Q2 are: Viñales, Martín, Oliveira, Álex Márquez, Bagnaia, Bastianini, Morbidelli, Acosta, Di Giannantonio and Binder

Out, by a thousandth, Miller. Also: Raúl Fernández, Marc Márquez, for a tenth, Quartararo, Augusto, Zarco, Marini, Nakagami, Bezzecchi, Gardner, Bradl and Mir.

Marc returned to his box after going through the clinic and there are no injuries. “He has a severe rib contusion on the right side, but we rule out any rib fracture,” said Dr. Charte.

Moto2 and Moto3

In Moto3, sharp fall of the leader David Alonso in the change of direction at turn 11, at 199 km/h. The Colombian overcame to provisionally enter Q2. The ‘top 14’ was: Nepa, Ortolá, David Alonso, Veijer, Piqueras, Furusato, Adrián Fernández, Rueda, Yamanaka, David Muñoz, Holgado, Lunetta, Kelso and Bertelle. Esteban, Almansa and Zurutuza would be out.

In Moto2, it was confirmed that the Kalex will give more war to the Boscoscuro. Chantra dominated sufficiently to break the record. Roberts suffered, and reduced the distance to the first, but is out of Q2, provisionally. The ‘top 14’ was: Chantra, Dixon, Aldeguer, Bendsneyder, Canet, Ramírez, García Dols, Ogura, Manu González, Arbolino, Vietti, Arenas, Izan Guevara and Alonso López. Out, among others, Roberts, Dani Muñoz, Masiá, Alcoba, Roberto García (who replaces Cardelús in Fantic), Artigas and Escrig.
