New Zealand dynamites the Piraeus Olympic Qualifiers: Doncic has the Games on the wire

Sand I sensed that the Piraeus Pre-Olympic was going to be the most complex and it only took a day and a half to confirm it. Croatia, which beat Slovenia in the first game (92-108), lost to New Zealand 86-90, turning that group upside down.

This Thursday, everything will be resolved in the duel between New Zealand and Slovenia (4:30 p.m.). The oceanic accounts are simple. If they win, they will be first in the group, Croatia will be second and Slovenia will be left without games.

To get into the semifinals, the Slovenians must win by 10 or more points. If they win but do not reach that number, they will be eliminated and Croatia would be the leader. If Doncic and his team want to finish first, they must win by 29 points or more.

The Croats, after dazzling against Slovenia, succumbed in the second game despite the great performance of Ivica Zubac, who had 29 points, 16 rebounds and a PIR of 43. Another NBA player, Dario Saric, had 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists and Mario Hezonja added 16 points, although with poor percentages (5/13 in two-pointers and 1/9 in three-pointers), nine rebounds and six assists. Cory Webster (21 points) and Shea Ili (18) were the best in the New Zealand ranks.
