He was born in 1946 in Khenifra, into the Amahzoune family, belonging to the Zayane tribe. His father, Hassan ould Mouha ou Hammou Zayani, was the Pasha of Khenifra and a respected figure in the region. In 1961, she married King Hassan II, who that same year also married Lalla Fatima, the deceased’s cousin. For years, both women lived with King Hassan, but he only had children with Lalla Latifa. Together they had five children, Mohamed VI being the second to be born.
