Jesús Areso in La Pizarra de Quintana: “Every player wants to go to the National Team, I am in my best moment”
Jesús Areso is 25 years old, plays for Osasuna and is currently experiencing his best moment as a professional footballer. The right back spoke in La Pizarra de Quintana where he recalled his beginnings, the painful injury he suffered a few years ago and also confessed to being excited about a call-up to the Spanish National Team.
Regarding a possible call to the National Team, Areso explained that he is obviously excited. “The truth is yes because I am in a great moment. You feel the excitement of going to the National Team. Every player wants to go to the National Team. “It’s not just any team, they are the European champions.”
Areso confessed that he is living his best moment professionally, but remains humble. “I have really enjoyed playing but I am not aware of how quickly everything has gone. If you told me a few years ago what moment to live in, I don’t think it would surpass this one. For me there is no doubt, I am in my best professional moment.”
The Osasuna player recalled with great pride the great match they had against Barcelona in LaLiga. “If I haven’t seen it 4-5 times, I haven’t seen it once. Sergio Herrera told me to enjoy it because Barça doesn’t score 4 goals every day.”
Regarding the differences between Arrasate and Moreno, the side was quite clear. “Vicente had a very difficult task because Arrasate has put the team in the Conference and in a Cup final. “Vicente has understood very well what needs to be transmitted to the player.”

Regarding whether he prefers to attack or defend, Areso explained that he prefers to attack in the opponent’s field, but that “I’m comfortable defending in my own half because I have space to run.”
Areso recalled his time at Burgos, where he explained that he grew a lot. “Julián Calero talked to me about defending with and without the ball. Also, clearly, defending without the ball. He talked to me about profiles, about not being surpassed, at what distance to close with a center back, winger…”.
Regarding his future and goals to achieve, Areso assured that he only wants to be healthy and for everything to continue going well. Furthermore, regarding its renewal, he commented that they are already working on it. “In principle I want to continue. What I’m looking for is happiness and, being from Navarre, it’s always nice to be with your loved ones.”
