Heat warnings put half of Spain in check: where 40 degrees will be reached

La State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has launched its first heat alerts since summer began in Spain. Until now, only a few regions had experienced a considerable increase, but these next few days, on the eve of the weekend, the agency has activated several orange notices due to temperatures that could reach and even exceed 40 ºC.

Throughout the entire day of this Thursday, July 4, there will be an increase in the mercury and 35 ºC will be exceeded in coastal areas, as well as they will be around 40 ºC in the Guadalquivir and Guadiana. Specifically, regions such as Cádiz, Seville, Córdoba, Jaén, Cáceres and Badajozwill be the most affected areas, where the mercury could even go up to 41 ºC.

For its part, Ávila, Salamanca, Ciudad Real, Toledo, Madrid, Huelva and Granada They will be under yellow alert, as explained by the AEMET in its latest statement published on social networks, with thermometers that will move between 35 and 39 degrees.

Hot nights and a new rise next week

Other points where the increase will be more noticeable will be practically the entire northern slope, where the difference compared to previous days could be up to 10ºC. The Basque Country and Navarra will be the areas where the most special care must be taken, as the heat will intensify noticeably.

Regarding the minimums, the AEMET indicates that the next nights will be hot, with an average temperature of between 20 and 22 degrees. However, the situation could turn around once the weekend arrives, specifically starting on Saturday. The agency maintains that thermometers could drop slightly, although it does not believe that this will last too long, and that a new increase in the first days of next week.
