Gonzalo Bernardos attacks critics of mass tourism: “Many forget that…”

GOnzalo Bernardos, collaborator in different La Sexta programs, is a more than authoritative voice when it comes to talking about economic issues. In fact, He is a professor of Economics at the University of Barcelona and author of more than 30 books.. In addition to his participation in Atresmedia spaces, he also comments on current affairs on social networks.

Specifically, Bernardos usually shares reflections on X, formerly Twitter, where he has accustomed his followers to debate economic issues that directly affect Spain and different autonomous communities. On this occasion, first wanted to share an article from El País about the protests in Barcelona against mass tourism.

In one of his latest publications, the expert has directly attacked the critics of mass tourism, and especially against the thousands of people who recently demonstrated in Barcelona. “How quickly citizens forget the image of Barcelona when in 2020 there was no tourism”he wrote in a tweet.

Bernardos remembers that many jobs depend directly on tourism

Furthermore, the economist and television collaborator also wanted to throw a dart, remembering that many jobs depend directly, or indirectly, on the arrival of tourists to our country: “Many also forget that their employment directly and indirectly depended on a thread called tourism”.

As expected, his reflection has generated a debate among his followers on “Gonzalo, maybe people want tourism, but not just any tourism at any price. It’s hateful not being able to move or go anywhere where you live because it’s full of tourists.. A separate case is the behavior of some tourists, which leaves a lot to be desired…”, maintains another ‘follower’ of Bernardos.
