Fernando Alonso creates the Valiant, the car of his dreams, with Aston Martin

Aston Martin did not want to miss the opportunity to create a street car following the designs of its franchise pilot. Is called Aston Martin Valiant and has been manufactured to the taste of Fernando Alonso. But be careful, because It is not a mere customization: The Spaniard has put a list of conditions on the table and his brand has made them a reality.

And it cannot be denied that Fernando Alonso – a good collector of sports cars – knows what he is doing. Because the Valiant mixes a V12in line with the best tradition of Aston Martin engines, with a manual shiftas any racing driver would demand… and a chassis with elements that come directly from the competition.

V12 and manual transmission, an increasingly rare combination

All of them will enjoy the power of a propellant V12 biturbo 5.2 liters and 745 horsepower, 30 more than the Valor…to which must be added the weight savings achieved with the modifications that the British brand has implemented to fulfill Alonso’s wish of reduce weight: he rear subframe is 3D printedlas rims and torsion bar are magnesium and the battery It is lithium ion.

But the best thing is that the Valiant – as also happened in the Valor – gives up the automatic transmission to mount a six speed manual gearbox which here is presented with a different aesthetic form, with the visible wheelhousewhich gives a special effect to the interior.

And the final touch is provided by a rare element even in hypercars of this caliber: the Multimatic ASV shock absorbers (Adaptive Spool Valve) of competition that can vary in just six milliseconds between 32 different damping curves. A ‘treat’ that Alonso will appreciate, with his special sensitivity as an F1 driver, much more than the rest of the buyers.

A bodywork full of sporty details

The Valiant is not a 100% new model, but rather part of the basis of Aston Martin Valour presented last year, but taken to the extreme according to the guidelines set by the two-time world champion of Formula 1. Which, basically, refer to a greater lightness and more extreme components in terms of aerodynamics and dynamism.

Aesthetically, it is clearly differentiated from the Valor due to its most extreme aerodynamic design. Something that is obvious, for example, seeing the bulky rear spoiler or with elements taken from Formula 1 itself, with the vortex generators in the skirts side panels that imitate those elements that are applied to the flat bottoms of single-seaters.

The body is built entirely in carbon and in it, in addition to the previously mentioned elements, the immense front splitter finished with flaps tipo DTMand the so-called aero discswhich are a nod to Aston Martin’s history in competition since they imitate those of the Aston Martin RHAM / 1 “The Muncher” which competed in Le Mans in the late 70s.

Inside, the Valiant rides a roll cage standard (necessary for the preferred use that Aston Martin believes will be made of this car, that is, the track) and Recaro Podium seats upholstered in alcantara with four-point harnesses. and racing details like the fabric door handles.

The last detail, and no less important, is seen in the auction of the Valiant, with four exhaust outlets (titanium)… one more than the Valor had. Because Alonso always wants more…
