Djokovic calls for innovation in tennis: “We must adapt to modern times”

EIn the midst of rumors that speak about the possible birth of a new circuit that will rival the ATP and WTA, Novak Djokovic assures that tennis needs to innovate, although I admitted not knowing anything about this possible circuit.

Before your appearance with Serbia in the United Cupthe world number 1 stated that “in general, I always support the improvement of the sport. I think that tennis is not taking advantage of its full potential. We are one of the most watched and popular sports in the world, but I think we have been quite conservative and conventional in certain aspects, and that has not been a great attraction for younger audiences.

Thus, Djokovic emphasized that “I am a great defender of our history, tradition and all that. But I think we should try to adapt to modern times and try to understand what the younger public wants and really make tennis more attractive.”

Regarding the option of a new tour, the Serbian assured that “I have also heard rumors, but I suppose they are still the first stages and we did not see anything concrete.” And he was not the only one who spoke about these rumors. He also did it Jessica Pegula, world number 5, who believes that it is only a matter of time before another circuit appears. “I think it’s inevitable,” the American said. “There’s a lot of talk about it.”
