At least 35 people were injured this morning when a truck hit a bus stop in Glilot, north of Tel Aviv in central Israel. Israeli police say the circumstances surrounding the event are being investigated, but that the truck collision is being treated as a “terrorist incident” as the vehicle “moved quickly and accelerated toward people” at the bus stop.

“The identity of the terrorist is still unknown, apparently he is an Arab-Israeli”, said Asi Aharoni, spokesman for the Israeli police. “At this moment we, together with the Shin Bet [agência de segurança israelita]we are trying to discover the identity and be absolutely sure.”

The incident occurred near the Glilot military base and the headquarters of the Israeli spy agency Mossad.

The Israeli ambulance service Magen David Adom also said it sent dozens of people to hospitals in that area. At least six have serious injuries.
