“To revolutionize the market”: The country’s first non-alcoholic wine store opens its doors in Lisbon

It promises a real revolution in the drinks sales market. The Other Bottle advertises itself as “the first non-alcoholic wine store in Portugal”, where you can buy gin, rum, wine, sparkling wine, beer and cider. The invitation to the inauguration reads: “It is a project to curate artisanal, complex and tasty drinks, all without alcohol. In addition to home delivery, it will also work with the best restaurants in the country, strengthening the distribution of sophisticated and sustainable drinks.”

Located near Praça das Flores, in Lisbon, its opening is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8th, but it has already started, in soft opening and by internetselling a wide range of drinks, including canned drinks.

“Column Zero”

The idea of ​​opening the first non-alcoholic wine cellar in Portugal came from the German Jeremias Loock, with the aim of “creatingcreate an interesting (and healthy) alternative to cocktails, wine and beer, without compromising social and sharing rituals”. Jeremias Loock began his professional career as a film producer and, in 2018, radically changed his sector and created “Kolonne Null”, a wine from the segment premium no alcohol. Since 2020, it has been exporting non-alcoholic drinks to the Iberian Peninsula.

Among the drinks available at The Other Bottle, in addition to the “Kolonne Null – Cuvée Rouge N°.02 Red Wine” (€14), there is also the Portuguese “José Maria da Fonseca- O%riginal – Moscatel Graudo” (€7, 80) or “Tanqueray 0.0 Gin” (€30.50).

The Other Bottle wine cellar (Rua Marcos Portugal, 18-A, Lisbon) also offers gluten-free, halal, vegan and low-calorie drinks, which can be reached anywhere in the country, via online store.

In addition to wanting to combat the harmful effects of alcohol consumption on health, it also wants to be sustainable and offset its carbon footprint. To achieve this, the new wine cellar established a partnership with Tree Nation to offset CO2 emissions. For every purchase made, The Other Bottle plants a tree.

The new wine cellar also aims to involve customers in sustainability. To this end, it established a partnership with Carbon Check Outwhich allows, with a simple click when purchasing, to add a contribution to renewable energy projects around the world.
