The 44 Portuguese who were removed from Lebanon have already arrived in Portugal

The first Portuguese people removed from Lebanon have already arrived in Portugal, following an operation by the Portuguese State to bring to safety the national citizens who asked to leave the country, after a week of intense bombings by Israel, which left more than 700 dead.

In total, there are around 100 Portuguese citizens registered as residents in Lebanon, according to the information that SIC Notícias collected, and this flight did not bring them all. Portuguese people can only be repatriated if they ask. This Saturday 44 people arrived in Lisbon, but the Government says it is in contact with those who stayed, in case they also have to be removed.

The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Nuno Sampaio, was at Figo Maduro military airport to receive the evacuated Portuguese, who were first transported to Cyprus.
