Stellantis management “unanimous” in supporting Carlos Tavares and the changes announced in terms of management

The chairman of the board of directors of the automotive group Stellantis, John Elkann, declared this Friday in a statement that “the board of directors is unanimous in its support for Carlos Tavares and the decisive changes announced today”. “We are confident that these steps to simplify our organization will strengthen our leadership team as they work to restore the company’s performance to industry-leading levels,” said Elkann.

The changes referred to by John Elkann will take place at the top management of the Stellantis group and with immediate effect.

‘Refreshed’ management on several fronts

Thus, Antonio Filosa is appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO, or director with the operational portfolio) for North America, in addition to CEO (executive president) of the Jeep brand, succeeding Carlos Zarlenga, whose future position will be the subject of new communication.

Jean-Philippe Imparato is appointed COO of the Extended Europe division, a role he will combine with his position as CEO of Pro One, succeeding Uwe Hochgeschurtz, who will leave the company.

Doug Ostermann is appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO), succeeding Natalie Knight, who will leave the company.

Gregoire Olivier is appointed COO for China and continues to be the head of liaison with Leapmotor, leveraging his specialist knowledge and experience in the Chinese market.

Santo Ficili is appointed CEO of Maserati and Alfa Romeo and member of the senior executive team.

On the other hand, and to boost commercial performance, the supply chain organization will be transferred from the purchasing division to the production division, led by Arnaud Deboeuf.

The search for Carlos Tavares’ successor is underway

Stellantis also confirmed this Friday that the formal process is already underway to identify a successor for Carlos Tavares, when he retires at the end of his term as executive president of the entire group, at the beginning of 2026.

This process is being led by a special committee of the board of directors, chaired by John Elkann, and will complete its work in the fourth quarter of 2025.

In the same statement, Carlos Tavares states that “during this ‘Darwinian’ period for the automotive industry, our duty and ethical responsibility is to adapt and prepare for the future, better and faster than our competitors, to provide clean, safe and accessible mobility”.
