O Minister of Finance says that the Tax Authority (AT) is a body of excellence, and refuses to follow the harsh criticism that has been made of it, from various political quarters, regarding the delays in settlement of taxes to dam concessionaires. Joaquim Miranda Sarmento believes that the Tax Authorities are right when they say that they cannot go any further in evaluating EDP’s fiscal planning when in 2020 they sold six hydroelectric plants to Engie. Regarding the specific case of charging IMI, he said, in Parliament, that the issue is a “very large fiscal complexity†and announced the creation of a working group to change the code.
