Russia guarantees that it will not participate in peace summit planned by Kiev

Russia announced this Saturday that it will not participate in the second summit on Ukraine planned by Kiev for November, after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky admitted this possibility.

“The summit will have the same objectives: to promote the illusory ‘Zelensky formula’ for any basis for resolving the conflict, obtain the support of the majority of the world and use it to present Russia with an ultimatum of capitulation,” declared the spokesperson. voice of Russian diplomacy, Maria Zakharova, in a press release.

“We will not participate in such ‘summits'”, assured the spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Today, Zelensky admitted that the new peace plan proposal for Ukraine should allow direct negotiations with the Russian Federation.

“The plan will be ready at the beginning of November. It will be a start for some basis for talking in any format with Russia. In any format. With any of its representatives. Because there will be a plan”, assured the Ukrainian leader in a statement.

Zelensky explained that three of the points of this peace plan have already been achieved, which would allow Russia to be invited to a second peace conference, like the one held in Switzerland on June 15th and 16th.

While Kiev maintains its demand for a “just” peace, which would see Russian troops abandon the country’s internationally recognized borders, including the Crimean peninsula, Moscow has said only that it is ready to consider “serious proposals” that take into account “the situation on the ground reflecting geopolitical realities”.

In June, Russian President Vladimir Putin explained that Moscow would only agree to peace talks on condition that Ukraine renounces its sovereignty over five of its regions, partially or completely occupied by Russia, for which it demands annexation.
