Research: how Europe’s largest oil and gas producers burn methane in astronomical quantities in Africa and the Middle East

They burn the skies, the environment and human health. Western Europe’s big oil groups — including BP, ENI, TotalEnergies and Shell — are among the top ten polluters in Africa and the Middle East when it comes to gas flaring. This is what the Burning Skies investigation reveals, conducted by environmental investigative journalism network EIF with the rede European Investigative Collaborations (EIC)of which Expresso is part, in collaboration with the newsrooms of Daraj Media, SourceMaterial and the Oxpeckers Investigative Environmental Journalism project.
