Public Enemy Headline: The whole of Portugal is euphoric and forgets the Europeans to beat Costa
The Portuguese interest in European football completely faded this week, with a new focus of national pride that led people into the streets to honk their horns, sing the anthem, throw roses at the statues of poets or go to Fátima de scooter to thank the Virgin: the election of António Costa as president of the European Council. Charles Michel returns to his old job as designer of curbstones and Costa takes up the job under a patriotic exaltation that only has parallels in the Discoveries, in Éder’s goal and in the water dog of the Obama. The online list of people offering to take Costa to the airport now runs to four million people.
