Pink Floyd sold their entire catalog and image rights
Pink Floyd sold their entire musical catalogue, as well as the rights to their image and the group’s name, for a sum of around 400 million dollars – around 362 million euros.
The news comes from the “Financial Times”, which names Sony as the buyer. The publisher will now own the recordings master of all Pink Floyd albums, as well as the rights to the merchandising of the group and about films and television series in which Pink Floyd have participated.
There had long been talk about the possibility of Pink Floyd selling their entire catalogue, but a dispute between David Gilmour and Roger Waters over the liner notes from “Animals”, a 1977 album, stopped the entire process.
Pink Floyd thus joins names like Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Queen, who over the last few years have also sold all the rights to their own music.
