In July, the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, announced that Teatro Variedades would reopen on October 5th, after rehabilitation works.

Carlos Moedas added that Variedades will “bring together independent companies that have no ‘home’ and have nothing to do with each other.”

“We’re going to have Artistas Unidos, Marina Mota, the revue theater”, said Carlos Moedas at the time, declining to add further details about the program.

At the time, Carlos Moedas also said that Teatro Variedades’ programming will be carried out in conjunction with cultural spaces in the area, namely the Capitol and Cinema São Jorge, “fostering a very active nucleus for the universe of theater, cinema, music and shows”.
