“Musk and Putin’s friendship evokes the mutual admiration of Henry Ford and Adolf Hitler”: how the billionaire exerts global influence
The news provided by “Wall Street Journal”of which American billionaire Elon Musk has been in regular contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin since the end of 2022, comes at a critical moment in the US election campaign. But, as the “Politico”the businessman’s influence goes far beyond politics – which he achieves through his “X” platform and his technology company SpaceX. SpaceX, in fact, depends on government contracts and high-level security clearances for confidential information.
Musk and Putin continued to talk throughout this year, during which the American billionaire began to intensify criticism of US military support for Ukraine and became actively involved in Republican candidate Donald Trump’s election campaign. According to the “Wall Street Journal”, the Russian President asked the businessman to avoid activating his Starlink satellite internet service in Taiwan, as a favor provided to the Chinese President, Xi Jinping.
Tesla’s CEO stopped financing the internet service terminals he provided to Ukraine and, in early 2024, Ukrainian secret reports stated that Musk’s satellite service was being used by the Russian Army on the Ukrainian front.
According to Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, the news is “false”, as the Kremlin’s only communication with Musk was a phone call in which the two discussed “space, as well as current and future technologies”.
