More than a third of French people went to the polls and the victory went to the extreme right

The far-right party, National Regroupment (RN) won the first round of legislative elections in France, with 33.15% of the votes after a record turnout at the polls. The party led by Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella consolidated the victory already expected in the polls published throughout the week, while the party of the current French President, Emmanuel Macron, came in third place, behind the New Popular Front (NFP) , according to the final data released by the French Ministry of the Interior.

With a turnout of almost 67% of voters at the polls, 75 of the 577 seats in the National Assembly were distributed after some parties secured an absolute majority in several electoral districts. The National Regroupment (RN, far-right, of Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella) won 37 seats, the New Popular Front (NFP, left-wing platform that includes radical left parties) elected 32 deputies, the Renaissance (of President Emmanuel Macron) won two seats, while The Republicans (LR) and the extreme right union (which brings together LR and RN) won one place each. Direita Diversa, which brings together right-wing politicians without party affiliation, obtained a deputy. Le Pen was already re-elected in the first round with more than 58% of the votes in her constituency in Pas-de-Calais, in northern France.

The left-wing coalition, Nova Frente Popular, which includes the socialists, the environmentalist party, the communists and Unsubmissive France, obtained 27.99% of the votes, which secured second place ahead of the Renaissance of Macron, who achieved 20.83% of the votes. The Republicans (6,57 %), on the right (3,66 %), Miscellaneous (1.82%), Left (1,53 %), Center (1,22 %), far-left (1,15 %), Regionalists (1.05%), Reconquista (0,75 %) and Sovereign Right (0,28 %).
