Montenegro dramatizes OE lead: “The Portuguese will not understand”, Pedro Nuno accuses PM of “arrogance”
It was a tense, tense fortnightly debate, one week before the delivery of the State Budget to Parliament. And a kind of antechamber to the meeting that followed between Luís Montenegro and Pedro Nuno Santos in São Bento, for which the prime minister promised to present this Thursday an “irrefutable” proposal to the secretary general of the PS to put an end to the impasse negotiation. What is certain is that judging by the debate, the two leaders appear (apparently) irreducible, with the socialist reiterating the refusal of the IRS Jovem and the transversal decline of the IRC and the social democrat coming out in defense of the two “anchor” measures of the Government’s program – thus anticipating that it will not be easy to find a halfway solution. But the Executive believes that it will be possible until the last minute.
