Middle East: Houthis confirm firing of a missile at Israeli Ben-Gurion airport

In a press release, Yemeni Huthi rebels reported an “operation” targeting Tel Aviv’s Ben-Gurion airport with a missile called Palestine 2.

Previously, the Israeli army reported that a missile fired from Yemen was intercepted, which triggered warning sirens in the center of the country.

“Sirens sounded in central Israel due to a missile fired from Yemen towards Israeli territory,” the army said in a statement, adding later that the missile was intercepted by the anti-missile defense system.

According to the Huthi rebels, this missile launched from Yemen was prepared to explode when Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, returned to the country from New York, where he participated in the UN General Assembly.

Huthi leader Abdul Malik al-Huthi appeared on Yemeni television to explain that the projectile was launched half an hour before Netanyahu’s plane landed at Tel Aviv’s Ben-Gurion International Airport.

Abdul Malik al-Huthi promised that the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah “will not be in vain.”

“These great sacrifices will not be in vain,” said the leader of the Huthis, who ordered “improving the results” of missile and drone attacks against Israel.

Yemen’s Huthi rebels are part of the so-called Axis of Resistance, a coalition led by Iran that also includes, among others, the Palestinian extremist group Hamas and the Lebanese Hezbollah.
