Matt Berninger (The National): “We’ve seen a lot of Taylor Swift fans at our concerts. They get confused in the first 25 minutes”
Matt Berninger gave an interview to “NME†in which he revealed that Taylor Swift fans have been flocking to National concerts, due to guitarist Aaron Dessner’s connection to the North American artist.
Dessner’s work in composing and producing several of Taylor Swift’s songs has, according to the vocalist, been “a blessing for the entire band,†even though many swifties don’t “understand†the National when they see them live.
“We have seen a lot of Taylor Swift fans at our concerts. In the first 25 minutes, we notice that they are confused,†she said. A change, in terms of audience, that Berninger does not reject. “Ten or fifteen years ago we noticed that there were a lot of new people coming to the concerts, and more and more women. In the band’s first ten years, it was a hose party.
Both the National and Taylor Swift recently passed through Portugal, the former for a concert in Primavera Sound Portothe second for two sold-out shows in Luz Stadium.
