Lisbon: court accepts precautionary measure from ACP, advertising panels will have to be turned off

The Lisbon Administrative Court “provisionally accepted” the precautionary measure taken by the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP) with the aim of preventing the operation of the digital panels of the companies JC Decaux and MOP.

According to the information provided to Lusa by the ACP, the precautionary measure “aims to prevent the operation of large lighting panels, already installed, as well as not allowing the installation of new panels of this nature”.

According to the ACP, large-format digital panels “clearly are a factor of distraction while driving and a huge risk to the safety of everyone, drivers and pedestrians”.

The court provisionally decreed that the companies JC Decaux and MOP adopt the necessary measures to disconnect the advertising panels already installed and refrain from installing new panels, in accordance with the ACP.

In relation to the Lisbon City Council, and in accordance with the ACP, the court decreed “provisionally to refrain from allowing the installation of new advertising panels”.
