Laura Carreira wins Best Directorial ex-aequo in San Sebastián and the Golden Shell is in Spain: it is by Albert Serra

The honors of the 72nd edition of the San Sebastián Festival distinguished Porto filmmaker Laura Carreira and her feature film debut, “On Falling”, with Joana Santos in the lead role. It is an award of great importance for Portuguese cinema and which highlights the value of a first work that has stood out in recent weeks, as has been highlighted here more than once. “On Falling” now heads to the London Festival, organized by the BFI (British Film Institute). Its debut in Portugal is yet to be decided.
