Laughter “has no borders” and “reminds us that we are human”: International Clown Meeting brings joy and empathy to Vila do Conde

It’s no offense to say that, these days, Vila do Conde makes you want to laugh. With all due respect, what is happening is a big joke. And this is really very serious. Until Sunday (October 13) the city will receive the 11th International Clown Meeting which brings together artists from different latitudes – Spain, Austria, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Belgium and Portugal.

The most prominent figure is the Catalan Tortell Poltronafounder of the organization “Clowns Without Borders”an NGO founded in 1993 and whose work is honored in this edition of the festival. The program includes five shows, one masterclass of Tortell Poltrona, circus workshops for children and families, a “Jam Clown Session” and a solidarity gala to raise funds for the association “Palhaços Sem Fronteiras – Portugal”.
