Jardins do Marquês Festival starts Wednesday in Oeiras: from Juan Luis Guerra’s ‘Burbujas de Amor’ to Patti Smith’s “popular power”
Sand Parque dos Poetas, in Oeiras, pays tribute to all those who valued the Portuguese language, this year it will welcome the poet of another ‘language’, punk: Patti Smith and her quartet — Lenny Kaye ( guitar), Jackson Smith (guitar), Jay Dee Daugherty (drummer), Tony Shanahan (bass, keys) – perform this Sunday, the 7th, at the Jardins do Marquês – Oeiras Valley festival, which begins this Wednesday §The. It will be Smith’s second visit to Portugal this year, after having performed in March at the Centro Cultural de Belém, in Lisbon, and at Theatro Circo, in Braga, with the Soundwalk Collective, in two shows who combined their poetry with avant-garde music. This time, the poetics will persist, but the sound will be electric, loud or, in short, extremely rock and roll.
