Janita Salomé: “Fausto was a fake serious man, a man full of humor and a restorative musician”

Janita Salomé lamented, in statements to BLITZ, the loss of her friend Fausto Bordalo Dias, who died this Monday, aged 75.

“I’m sorry to see someone so important to Portuguese music disappear, and a great friend,†says Janita Salomé. “Fausto was a faux-serious man, a man full of humor and, above all, a restorative musician.â€

Explaining the meaning of this expression, the musician illustrates: “He was a renewer, someone who renews without losing tradition, who creates something new, who gives back.â€

Recalling curious moments spent with her friend, Janita Salomé shares: “Once, many years ago, we went to Galicia, me, him, Vitorino and Zeca [Afonso], and we slept in a student residence, in an act of militancy. And at a certain point we started doing the tricks of boys, not grown men, and we were caught by some students, and Zeca got really stuck.â€

“I really feel sorry to see someone like that go,†Janita Salomé also confessed. “One of the great innovators [da música portuguesa]a friend, life companion and a great reference of our culture, who I greatly admired”.

Fausto was the victim of a prolonged illness. His wake will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, at Voz do Operário, in Lisbon, from 6pm to 11pm.
