“It’s supposed to have 20 values!”: 12th grade students take the Mathematics exam

This Wednesday, tens of thousands of students took the test that many need to access higher education. Expectations are high.

There are 38 thousand students who took the 12th year national Mathematics exam this morning. The test helps to decide whether to enter higher education.

It’s an important test, used by many students as proof of entry to higher education.

Despite their anxiety, moments before the exam, students at a school in Carnaxide were confident.

Exams started at 9:30am for Year 12, but also for 11th year students, who took the Mathematics B and Mathematics Applied to Social and Human Sciences tests.

Mathematics teachers were also at the school, to support students and convey peace of mind.

“I’m hoping that [o resultado das provas] be better than last year. This year, the exams haven’t been difficult, so I’m hopeful that everything will go well”, says Filipa Abreu, Mathematics A teacher.

“I think the students are prepared, we always have expectations that [os exames] will go well for the students and the teachers, who worked hard throughout the year to make them successful”, says António Seixas, director of Escola Secundária Camilo Castelo Branco, in Carnaxide.

Os Exam results are known on July 15th. A week later, On July 22nd, the first phase of applications to the university opens.
