Israel claims attack on 280 Hezbollah and Hamas military targets

The Israeli Army said it had attacked 280 military targets of the Lebanese Hezbollah and Palestinian Hamas movements in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, respectively, in the last 24 hours, and claimed to have killed 50 Hezbollah fighters.

The targets included “underground terrorist infrastructures, weapons warehouses, military command centers, terrorist cells and other terrorist infrastructures”, the Israeli Army said in a statement.

Israel today ordered the evacuation of 22 locations in southern Lebanon to fight Hezbollah and asked the population to move north of the Awali River.

The Israeli Army also announced that Hezbollah fired around 320 projectiles from Lebanon towards Israel during Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism.

The holiest day of Judaism, the majority religion in Israel, is celebrated annually, and in 2024 it will be on October 12th.

Hezbollah and Israel have been facing each other for a year in a confrontation that recently reached another level with an intense Israeli bombing campaign against Lebanon, including the capital, Beirut, which caused more than 2,200 deaths and displaced 1.2 million people.

In the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian enclave controlled by Hamas, Israeli troops are concentrating their offensive again to the north, particularly in the Jabalia refugee camp, where they killed 20 members of the Palestinian movement in the last 24 hours, according to the Army.

Since resuming fighting in Jabalia a week ago, the Israeli Army claims to have killed 200 alleged Hamas fighters.

Israel has launched an offensive against Hamas, particularly in the Gaza Strip, since a year ago the Palestinian Islamist movement launched an unprecedented attack on Israeli soil, causing 1,200 deaths and more than 200 hostages, according to Israel.

Since the start of the war, on October 7 last year, 42,126 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip and 98,117 have been injured, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health, which estimates that there are also 10,000 bodies trapped under the rubble.
