Israel announces death of another Hezbollah leader

According to the Israeli military, cited by The Times of Israel, Kaouk was the commander of Hezbollah’s “preventive security unit” and a senior member of the group’s central council. Wconsidered close to Hezbollah’s leadership “was directly involved in advancing terrorist attacks against the State of Israel and its citizens, including in recent days,” the army said.

The veteran belonged to the movement since the 1980s ethad previously been the group’s military commander in southern Lebanon. The United States, which considers Hezbollah a terrorist organization, has imposed sanctions against Kaouk since 2020.

In recent weeks, several senior Hezbollah leaders have been killed in Israeli attacks, including the group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, in Beirut on Friday.
