Iran weakened by Israeli attack may retaliate through its representatives in the Middle East

Explosions were heard in the Iranian capital overnight as Israel launched several waves of airstrikes against military installations. Despite satellite images showing the impact that the attacks had on a missile base six kilometers south of Tehran, and two Iranian soldiers being killed, Iran was quick to speak of “limited damage” caused by Israel.

Missile factories and other military sites have been targets of Israeli projectiles throughout Iran. The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs claims that Israeli attacks on “several military centers” in the country are a “clear violation” of international law, ensuring that Tehran “considers itself entitled and obliged to defend itself against foreign acts of aggression”.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes the utilization of all material and spiritual capabilities of the Iranian nation to defend its security and vital interests, as well as upholding its duties towards regional peace and security, the individual and collective responsibility of all countries in the region to protect peace”, can be read in the statement published by the Government of Iran.
