Iran retaliates against Israel: “It is a turning point, we are in a dangerously unpredictable moment”
“They are going to attack tonight, it is no longer a question of ‘if’”, Bruce Maddy-Weitzman, an expert in Middle Eastern studies at Tel Aviv University, told Expresso, referring to the imminent Iranian attacks aimed at Israel. In a conversation with Expresso, he stated that, this time, unlike what happened in retaliation after the Israeli attack on an embassy in Damascus, the Iranians would try to have “more successful, while avoiding an all-out war”. The analyst also suggested that more precise missiles could be launched from Lebanon, that is, with a shorter arrival time.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the main branch of the country’s Armed Forces, confirmed that the barrage of missiles fired at Israel was in retaliation for the assassination of Hezbollah and Hamas leaders. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Tehran in July; Last week, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah died in Lebanon.
