Interview with Ornatos Violeta: “We have reached a point in life where we have already lived several lives, but it seems like it was all yesterday”
Starting at 8:30 pm this Saturday, on the Tejo stage at Rock in Rio Lisboa, Ornatos Violeta will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the album “O Monstro Necessita de Amigos†with a series of guests: at the festival of capital, will play with the string quartet Solistas da Casa da Música, whose musicians will reproduce the album’s string arrangements live, and with singers Ana Deus, Gisela João and Samuel Úria. On July 21st, the group will be at Meo Marés Vivas, in Gaia, with a small change in the ‘cast’: Gisela João leaves, Filipe Pinto enters. We spoke to Peixe, founding member and guitarist of the band from Porto, about the “very special†process of looking at these often played songs in a different way.
At this Rock in Rio Lisboa concert, you will only play songs from “O Monstro Necessita de Amigos†, whose silver anniversary you are celebrating, or also from your first album, “Cão!†€?
Being a concert with the aim of celebrating 25 years of “Monstro…†, and taking into account that the slot It’s only for an hour, the show will only take place on this record. Eventually there may be one or another song recorded in the “Monstro†sessions, but which was not later edited on the disc. But it is part of that universe, of that moment. But it’s more likely that these songs [surjam] at Meo Marés Vivas, where we will have more time. At Rock in Rio, I assume there won’t be as much time to play things like ‘Como Afundar’ or ‘Ha-de Encarnar’, songs that, however, are prepared. But not from “Dog!†. The dog this time will stay in the cage.
