“In a microsecond, my life completely changed. I was scared to tell people”: R. Kelly’s daughter accuses her father of sexual abuse

Buku Abi, daughter of R. Kelly, will narrate in a new documentary her personal story with the musician, sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexual crimes.

In the documentary, “R. Kelly’s Drama: A Daughter’s Journey”, Abi reveals that she was sexually abused by the musician as a child. “I was too afraid to tell people, my mother,” he says. “For a long time I didn’t even want to believe it had happened.”

“I woke up with him touching me. In that microsecond my life changed radically”, he continues. “As soon as I finally told my mother, I never went to his house again, neither me nor my brothers.”

Abi also says she filed a complaint with authorities against R. Kelly, which didn’t end up going to court. “They told me they couldn’t charge him with anything because I waited too long.”

R. Kelly’s lawyer, however, denied all of Abi’s accusations and accused the documentary makers of not asking the musician for a “contradiction”.
