Government advances with new agreement to increase wages and boost the economy: here are the proposals

The Government calls it the Tripartite Agreement on Salary Enhancement and Economic Growth 2025-2028 and hopes that it can unite social partners around the objective of boosting Portuguese salaries in the coming years.

Such as o Express had advancedthe Government presented this Wednesday to the social partners a proposal to increase the minimum wage to €870 in 2025, maintaining in the following years a trajectory of updating at a rate of 50 euros per year, until the Guaranteed Minimum Monthly Remuneration reaches € 1020 in 2028.

The average salary will maintain, next year, the update reference of 4.7% provided for in the current income agreement, with the objective of reaching the current legislative period of €1886.29.

In the proposed agreement, which the Express had access, the Executive encourages companies with measures such as reducing the IRC by two percentage points, to 19%, in 2025, productivity bonuses exempt from IRS and a single social tax, a measure defended by the Portuguese Business Confederation (CIP) , or the annual reduction of autonomous taxes by up to 20%, at the end of the legislature.

In the coming weeks, the Executive will meet again bilaterally with employers and unions, in an attempt to close an agreement even before the State Budget proposal is delivered to Parliament, on October 10th.
