First polls after the withdrawal show Harris more convincing than Biden, but still unable to surpass Trump

By closing the curtain on the speculation that surrounded his candidacy, giving up on running for a second term as President of the United States, Joe Biden offered his testimony to Kamala Harris. The vice president has been seen as Biden’s natural successor to lead the Democratic Party in the presidential elections, especially after the President’s disastrous performance in the June debate against Donald Trump – a performance which precipitated doubts about Joe Biden’s ability to win the election.

Although other candidates may still emerge at next month’s convention, Harris emerges as the big favorite for the nomination. And several polls, carried out before Joe Biden’s announced withdrawal (and the declaration of support for his ‘vice’), show that the former Democratic senator from California convinces more voters than the President , although the overwhelming majority of surveys continue to give greater favoritism to the former President and Republican candidate, Donald Trump.

The first two polls carried out after Joe Biden’s withdrawal give Donald Trump an advantage over Kamala Harris. The study of Morning Consultheld on Monday and released this Wednesday, gives Trump a margin of victory over Harris of two points (47-45), a reduction in relation to the six-point advantage that the same company predicted the previous President in the race.

The Quinnipiac University poll, carried out between last Friday and Sunday, among registered voters, puts Trump in first place, with 49%, and Harris in second, with 47%, a technical tie within the margin of error.
