Firefighters in Parliament: how was the protest born? What is SNBS? Who pays the sappers? And will they return to the street?

Seven euros: this is the cost of the risk subsidy for a firefighter, a value that has not been reviewed since 2002 and which has put the firefighters on edge, after years of successive complaints. Worsening the conditions of the firefighters, who this Tuesday marched on Lisbon with firecrackers in one hand and smoke nozzles in the other, is the fact that those who pay are not those who make the laws. In other words, the Government determines, but does not pay, this is up to the municipal councils to do, which contextualizes the anger with which the firefighters took to the streets.

To make matters worse, there are 468 fire brigades in Portugal, 25 of which are exclusively fire brigades. To these are added eight private corporations and 435 fire brigades, owned by humanitarian associations. Too many numbers, too many men and women, too much confusion.
