Exhibitions: A sensual (and textile) dive into the panels of Almada Negreiros for Gare Marítima de Alcântara

FHi, with some suspicion I entered the Manuel do Carmo Peixeiro Gallery of the Portalegre Tapestry Museum, in order to see the textile version of the Great Mural Decoration for the Gare Marítima de Alcântara que Almada Negreiros conceived and executed it in the mid-1940s. The distrust had nothing to do with the technical and mimetic capacity of the Portalegre Tapestries, but with the change of support, from more to most executed well after the artist’s death, although Almada expressed great interest in this adaptation of his work.
