“Disorientation and total lack of Government communication strategy”: author of the symbol rejected by Montenegro reacts to the dance of logos

Even before being elected Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro promised to stop using the Government’s new visual identity, as he considered it “succumbing historical and identity references to an idea of sophistication†. And, as soon as he took office, the first measure was to replace the symbol of the Portuguese Republic and rescue the previous one, created in 2011. However, this Wednesday there was a logo dance: in the space of a few hours, the Government removed and then replaced the armillary sphere, the corners and the castles.

Meanwhile, the designer Eduardo Aires won another award for authoring the image rejected by Montenegro and which cost the State 74 thousand euros.

Despite considering it “unnecessary†to comment on the Government’s zigzags with the logo, the renowned Portuguese designer did not fail to make a brief comment on the latest “dizzying interventions†.
