Deadline for taxpayers to submit the IRS ends this Sunday

The deadline for taxpayers to submit the IRS declaration relating to their 2023 income ends this Sunday, and for those who have automatic IRS and have not yet ‘validated’ it, it is considered delivered from this date.

Statistical data from the Finance Portal show that, by the end of this week, almost six million declarations (5,974,980) had been submitted among 3,728,483 people who last year had only income from dependent employment and pensions and 2,246 ,497 from taxpayers with other income categories.

The deadline for IRS submission is set on June 30th, not moving forward to the next business day when the deadline coincides with a holiday or weekend, as happens with some reporting obligations for other taxes.

This date is relevant for those who are not covered by the automatic IRS, in which case the taxpayer must complete and submit their declaration through the Finance Portal.

Those who benefit from automatic IRS will have their situation regularized even if they do not go to the portal to validate the declaration because it is considered delivered on the last day of the deadline.

According to current legislation, AT has until July 31st to settle the declarations submitted — although most of them have already been settled — and the refund must be made by August 31st.

For those who have tax to pay (because the withholdings they made in 2022 were not sufficient or because they have income that is not subject to withholding), the deadline for making this payment is also August 31st.
