Carlos Tavares assumes departure from Stellantis, does not exclude factory closures and says that if Trump is elected he will have to review the group’s strategy

The executive president of Stellantis, an automotive group that includes 14 brands, such as Peugeot, Citrën, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, among others, confirmed his departure from the position he currently holds at what is the fourth largest automaker on a global scale.

The Portuguese manager assured this Monday late afternoon, in Paris, at a press conference as part of the Motor Show taking place this week in that city, that he has already spoken about the matter with his family and that the decision has been made.

“Em 2026 [ano em que deixará o cargo] I will be 68 years old, 45 of which have been spent in the automobile industry. I talked to my family about this and we concluded that it is time to stop”, confirmed the manager.

Tavares wishes success to whoever succeeds him

Carlos Tavares also said that he wishes the greatest success to whoever succeeds him in the position, and that he will give some recommendations on this replacement process to the group’s board of directors.
