Brazilian is the only black woman nominated for the award Portuguese Women In Tech 2024

The Brazilian social entrepreneur Elisângela Souza51 years old, was nominated for the award Best Community Lead do Portuguese Women in Tech Award 2024. Creator of IDE — Social Hub, a technology company dedicated to social causes, her work is focused on inclusion, equity, social impact, innovation and sustainability.

This is the seventh edition of awardwhich covers the main technological areas, with recognition of innovative women who are agents of change. In each category — sponsored by a company different — there is five nominees.

There are nine categories: Best Engineer, Best Product Manager, Best Business Operations and Innovation Specialist, Best Data, Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Specialist, Best Revenue, Growth, Sales and Marketing Specialist, Best User Experience Developer, Best Specialist in Community Experience, Best Community Leadership and Best Specialist in People, Culture and Talent.

The distinction was created in 2016 with two objectives: to support women who work in the technology field, giving visibility to their work and giving them better contacts and more opportunities, in addition to encouraging more women to dedicate themselves to this area, normally occupied only by men. The award ends up being a stimulus for female entrepreneurship.

In Portugal since 2019, Elisângela was a cultural programmer in Brazil, where she worked at the National Arts Foundation (Funarte), in Rio de Janeiro. In Portugal, it started in the call centerthen heading to the census area.

The idea of ​​creating a social tech (technology aimed at social causes) emerged after feeling that she was rejected in a job interview when the interviewer saw the color of her skin. Currently, IDE — Social Hub, founded in 2022, works on inclusion, equality and the environment.

At the first Web Summit in Lisbon, Elisângela was selected as a representative of social entrepreneurship. In 2023, she entered the list of the 100 most influential women in social entrepreneurship, prepared by Euclid Network, a European Union network that aims to create an ecosystem for building an inclusive, equitable and sustainable society.

The most recent IDE activity was the 2nd IDE Insights and Good Practices, a meeting with experts and representatives of companies that have adopted inclusion and sustainability policies. The basis for this meeting is the observation that, in addition to better treatment of company employees, the adoption of these practices results in greater profitability for companies.
