BLITZ 40 years old: “He has already supported and helped promote three of my bands and at BLITZ I discovered a lot of new things”, Frankie Chavez

As we enter the countdown to the big BLITZ 40th anniversary party, at Meo Arena, in Lisbon, on December 12th – with shows by Xutos & Pontapés, Capitão Fausto, Gisela João and MARO –we asked musicians, promoters, journalists, radio hosts and other personalities to go to the trunk to retrieve memories from four decades of history, also leaving us a message for the future.

“I remember BLITZ since I was a child, when I started to become more interested in music”, says Frankie Chavez. For the musician, BLITZ “was crucial” in promoting his own work. “He has always promoted and supported Portuguese music. It promotes the albums that are released, the tours that are carried out, and publicizes the new bands that are emerging. As far as I’m concerned, BLITZ has already supported and helped promote three of my bands” – Tape Junk, Miramar and his solo project. And that’s not all: “I discovered a lot of new things with BLITZ”.

For Frankie Chavez, BLITZ “was possibly the first media outlet dedicated to promoting Portuguese music”. “There will always be this flag”, he adds. For the future, the musician hopes that BLITZ “will continue with the great work it has done in promoting Portuguese and international music, with good interviews from those who really like music; I highlight Lia Pereira, whose interviews and articles I love reading”, he says.
