Biden admits bad debate, but promises to recover. “When we are knocked down, we get back up”
After a questionable performance in Thursday’s debatewhich led many experts to doubt the fitness of the President of the United States, Joe Biden admitted that his performance was not good, but that he knows how to “tell the truth†.
At a rally held this Friday in Raleigh, North Carolina, Biden commented for the first time on the confrontation with Donald Trump, which was marked by the President’s vocal problems and difficulties in completing their thoughts and sentences.
“You know I’m not a young man, to state the obvious. You know I don’t walk as easily as I used to, I don’t speak as softly as I used to. I don’t debate it like I used to, but you know I tell the truth,’ he said, quoted by The Guardian. And, using his usual close tone with several idiomatic expressions, he said: “When we are knocked down, we get back up again†.
In a much more effusive and energetic speech, and accompanied by a noisy audience, Joe Biden highlighted that he knows how to distinguish “what is right from what is wrong†and that he remains prepared to assume a second term as President – if he wins After the elections, his Presidency would last until he was 86 years old.
“Friends, I give you my word as a Biden. I wouldn’t run if I didn’t believe, with all my heart, that I was capable of doing this job. Because, frankly, there is too much at stake,” he pointed out.

The President appeared accompanied by his wife and teacher Jill Biden, having been introduced on stage by another teacher in the area. The end of the speech ended, symbolically, with Biden walking away from the pulpit while the song “I won’t back down†(“I won’t give upâ€), by Tom Petty, played.
The moment also served to attack Donald Trump, both for his criminal record and for the way he was in the debate. Trump, who is once again a candidate for the White House after fully assuming the reins of the Republican Party, spent the debate making false statements, particularly on issues of abortion, the state of the economy and his time as President , between 2017 and 2021.
“He lied about the great economy he created. She lied about the pandemic that she sabotaged, killing millions of people. She closed businesses, schools, people lost their homes across the country. America was on its knees,†she argued.
The crowd in Raleigh, resurrecting a chant created by Trump supporters to attack Hillary Clinton in 2016, shouted “Lock him up” after Biden considered the former North leader -American as “a one-man crime wave†.
Unlike Hillary Clinton, however, Trump was found guilty of 34 crimes, as part of his extramarital affair with pornographic actress Stormy Daniels. Trump is also being investigated in three other criminal cases, and has already reached a compensation agreement with author E. Jean Carroll following an accusation of sexual assault. “The only criminal on stage last night was Donald Trump,†Biden concluded.
The North American elections are scheduled for November 5th. Until then, a new debate is scheduled for September 10th between Democrat Joe Biden and Republican Donald Trump, who at that point will already be officially chosen by their parties.
