‘Bastonada nos Dentes’: Filipe Sambado criticizes police violence in new song
Filipe Sambado shared a new theme this Friday, ‘Bastonada nos Dentes’.
The song, Sambado’s first since “Three Years of Scorpio in Taurus†, is a notorious criticism of police violence. “There is almost always a heroic and salvific belief in someone’s vocational base, which ultimately considers aggression as a solution,” he wrote in a statement.
“The use of force and physical or verbal arrogance will always be on the side of those who cannot resolve problems through dialogue. Security exists when social injustices are prophylactically prevented, reducing the rate of crime and marginalization. The security function must serve the weakest and help those who need it most,” he continues.
“The police officer chooses to represent the state, as the private security guard chooses to represent his boss, as the military chooses to represent his belief and his war. The police believe that his propensity for violence was validated when he chose to serve the law and the state. Those who see superiority in violence do not believe in true equality or social equity.”
