André Ventura assures: “Chega will vote against this State Budget”

This Friday was marked by the long-awaited face to face between Luís Montenegro and Pedro Nuno Santos to discuss the next State Budget. The prime minister and the leader of the main opposition party met at Palácio de São Bento, in Lisbon. This afternoon, André Ventura said that the impasse is the sole fault of the Executive and argued that the PS went to São Bento to carry out negotiations that are unrealistic, in an “act of electoral campaign”.

In an interview with SIC Notícias, the leader of Chega stressed that his party “it was neither found nor found in the construction of the State Budget”even after having told the Government that “it was available”.

“When the State Budget began to be created and designed, at the end of the last legislature, and Chega said ‘we are available’. There was a moment when we realized that the Government had chosen the Socialist Party (PS) as its interlocutor. We We warned that this would go wrong. That the PS, as it always does, makes electoral calculations and not the country’s calculations”.

For André Ventura, the Government only has two optionsgive in to the demands of the Socialist Party (PS) or admit mistakes committed during the construction of the State Budget and redo the document.

“This Budget will not pass for us”

Two months before the vote – scheduled for November 28th – André Ventura guarantees that Chega will vote against the State Budget and blames the Executive and the Socialist Party (PS).

“Chega will vote against this State Budget. Why? Because contrary to what was available, the Government did not agree to give in on a single matter, did not accept to negotiate, did not accept to participate”, he guaranteed.
