Exclusive premiere: Wolf Manhattan presents the video for ‘Breathe’, new single from the second album

Wolf Manhattan debuts with BLITZ the video for ‘Breathe’, the new single from “Real Life Is Overrated”, the second album from the new project by João Vieira, vocalist of X-Wife, ‘helmsman’ of White Haus and DJ Kitten. In his words, ‘Breathe’ is “a song that talks about social anxiety and the pleasure of spending time alone”: “sometimes it feels good to switch off”, adds the musician from Porto. The guest voice on this song produced by João Vieira and André Tentugal is Finnish singer and songwriter Jenna-Marie Laine. The music video, “inspired by the performances of Debbie Harry on the Muppets and Feist on Sesame Street”, was filmed by Vasco Mendes and edited by André Tentugal.

In an interview with BLITZ in May, Vieira reflects on the differences between the two albums from the ‘existence’ Wolf Manhattan: “It was very important that the first album had a sound very close to a cassette tape recorded in the 80s, 90s, limited to a number of instruments, a guitar from the 50s and an organ that was bought at a junkyard, a drum machine… It was thought of during the pandemic: if I have to do it alone, I can do it, which was also important. This new record is much bigger. It was recorded in the studio, with a drummer, more instruments, with bass and guest vocals. We don’t worry so much about having that lo-fi side.”
